The Pokémon World Championships is the capstone tournament of the Pokémon Championship Series, celebrating all things Pokémon and culminating the efforts of top Trainers around the globe. The grand event features world-class competitions for Pokémon video games (VGC), the Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG), Pokémon GO, and Pokémon UNITE, where competitors battle it out for over $2 million in prizes and the title of World Champion.
\nIn order to participate, competitors must have a Pokémon Trainer Central account and be in good standing with the Play! Pokémon program.
\nRegistration for the Pokémon World Championships is by invitation only.

Pokémon VGC, Pokémon TCG, and Pokémon GO competitors qualify for Worlds by earning Championship Points at events throughout the Championship Series season. In 2026, a set number of competitors from each rating zone, age division, and game will earn an invitation to the World Championships based on their Championship Points leaderboard standings.
\nPokémon UNITE teams qualify for Worlds by finishing Top 2 in their respective Regional League, winning the Open Last Chance Qualifier in their respective region, or winning the Asia Champions League Final, Aeos Cup at EUIC, or Final Stretch at the North America International Championships (NAIC).
\nCompetitors in Japan, South Korea, mainland China, and the Asia-Pacific region will be awarded World Championships invitations as per their regions’ organized play and esports programs. Competitors from these rating zones are not eligible to earn World Championships invitations through Championship Points.
\nAdditionally, direct invites to the Pokémon World Championships will be awarded to the following top finishers in Pokémon VGC, Pokémon TCG, and Pokémon GO Championship events regardless of their final Championship Point total or rating zone:
\nDirect invites do not pass down—if a competitor who has already received a direct invite for Worlds would earn a direct invite at one of these events, the runner-up will not receive a direct invite. The top four finishers from the previous season’s World Championships will also earn a direct invite.
\nThe competitors with the most Championship Points within their rating zone (North America, Latin America, Europe, the Middle East and South Africa, and Oceania) can earn Travel Awards or Travel Stipends for the World Championships.

Competitors who qualify for a Travel Award for the World Championships will receive a flat amount prior to the event. Each competitor is fully responsible for booking their own hotel and travel.
\nCompetitors who qualify for Travel Stipends for the World Championships are eligible to earn a $1,000 Travel Stipend, paid after the event and subject to the competitor attending and completing at least one round of play in the main event.
\nThe award amount is based on the age of the recipient, their region of residence, and the region of the event. Residents of Iran, Russia, South Africa, and Venezuela are not currently eligible for Travel Awards.
